Workers compensation insurance is a state mandated benefit system that is designed to protect employees who are injured on the job.  Employers take the bill for such injuries, regardless of who is at fault.

Even if a worker is careless and is to blame for his/her injury, he/she is still eligible for workers compensation insurance benefits.  However, in exchange for these benefits the injured worker forfeits the right to sue his employer for damages.
