Susan M. Franklin graduated cum laude from Michigan State University - Detroit College of Law in 2003, where she was a member of the Journal of International Law, the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund and a merit scholar. She also received a Jurisprudence Achievement Award for Education Law. Following graduation, she clerked for the Hon. Richard Ryan Lamb of the Ninth Judicial Circuit Court in Kalamazoo, Michigan.
Prior to law school, she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English, with an emphasis in practical writing, from Grand Valley State University. She joined Williams | Hughes, on March 20, 2006, where her practice includes municipal, family and criminal law. In December 2009, Susan received a master’s degree in Public Administration from Grand Valley State University.
Susan is admitted to practice in Michigan and before the United States District Court for the Western District of Michigan. She is a member of the Muskegon County Bar Association, the Kalamazoo County Bar Association, and the Greater Muskegon Jaycees.
Susan, the daughter of Robert and Pamela Dona, was raised in Troy, Michigan. She and her husband live in the Muskegon area with their two dogs.
